SCRY and Archivist

Archivist and SCRY both record your game on Discord and write up the session afterwards. The differences are in what your players read and how you check where a fact came from.

Where each one fits

Archivist

Archivist records Discord sessions or takes uploaded audio, and writes recaps, a compendium and a quest log from them. It also makes extras for the table, including hero awards and trading cards.

It suits a group that also plays in person, or one that wants those extras for players.

SCRY

SCRY records your session on Discord and builds a campaign wiki where each page shows the line it came from, so you can check a fact before you rule on it.

It suits a DM who wants the player wiki to follow the story without extra work. Players open it from a link, and your secrets stay off it until they come out at the table.

Switching from Archivist

Archivist exports a campaign to markdown through its Obsidian plugin. Zip that folder and import it into SCRY as an Obsidian vault, and your campaign so far becomes the start of your wiki.

Record your next session and the wiki carries on from there.

Questions I get asked

Can I bring my Archivist campaign across?

Yes. Export it to markdown with Archivist's Obsidian plugin, zip the folder and import it into SCRY as an Obsidian vault.

Do my players need an account?

No. They open the player wiki from a link you share.

How much does SCRY cost?

The free plan covers one campaign and three recorded sessions. Pro is $15 a month or $150 a year.

Does SCRY work for in-person games?

Not yet. SCRY records Discord voice, so your game needs to run in a Discord voice channel.

Never lose the thread.

Run Sunday with SCRY in the channel. By Monday there's a session page waiting for you.
